Monthly Melodies: Local Ear Open Mic at Casa Azteca

Once a month, on the third Wednesday, Casa Azteca becomes our local music hotspot. It’s open mic night, folks! Whether you’ve got three songs or a 10-minute set, this is your chance to take the stage. Located at 903 E. Subway Blvd on Historic Jefferson Highway, it’s the place to be if you’re looking to jam or just enjoy some good tunes.

Friday Night Live: Red Cherry Alley Songwriter Series

Come Friday, we shift gears to The Store Next Door. Nestled at 125 West Cherry, it’s home to the Red Cherry Alley Songwriter Series. This week, we’re featuring Matthew Harper, a talent you don’t want to miss. We’ve even got a mini-stage set up at the back of the store. It’s cozy, it’s intimate, and it’s all about the music.

This highway, which was part of the National Auto Trail system, was built in the 1910s. It was marketed as the “Palm to Pine Highway”, referring to the differing trees one would find at either end of the route. A Route of Historical Significance The Jefferson Highway Association came into existence in 1915, and the initial routing was conceived between Winnipeg and New Orleans by 1916. The highway was an important thoroughfare for travelers heading north or south throughout the central United States and Canada.
