How Lunch With Doug Accidentally Became a Thing
π️ How Lunch With Doug Accidentally Became a Community Staple
It started as a simple idea during my lunch break—go live, share a few thoughts, maybe highlight something cool happening around town. To make sure my boss knew it was happening on my time, I gave it a name: Lunch With Doug. I figured it’d be a short-lived experiment. But then something unexpected happened—he liked it. He encouraged it. And the audience? They kept showing up.
What began as a casual livestream quickly grew into a daily dose of community connection. I started sharing upcoming events, spotlighting local businesses, and giving folks a reason to tune in during the lunch hour. It wasn’t planned, but it worked. And when something works, you lean in.
πΊ The Evolution of Lunch With Doug
Lunch With Doug began as a simple livestream from my phone—just me, going live on Facebook during lunch to share local events and chat with the community. But it didn’t stay simple for long.
It quickly grew into a full-blown livestream show with pre-recorded segments, live commentary, and a growing audience. From there, it expanded to YouTube as a video series, then evolved into an audio-only podcast with wide distribution across major streaming platforms—including YouTube Podcasts.
The journey so far includes:
π¬ 260 original video episodes
π️ A six-part movie (Episode 261)
π§ 538 audio-only podcast episodes
πΉ 3 bonus video episodes
π 23 new episodes released in both video and audio formats
Midway through Season 9, the video format made its return—while still offering audio versions for platforms that don’t support video. And now? We’ve leveled up again—with an entire 24/7 streaming TV channel on Roku called With Doug TV, hosting Lunch With Doug and a whole lot more.
π‘ How to Watch (and Listen) Now
New episodes of Lunch With Doug drop about twice a week, premiering first on With Doug TV via Roku streaming at noon. After the premiere, they replay in rotation on the channel throughout the week.
Each episode is then made available on demand through the Roku channel and distributed as either video or audio to all major podcast platforms—depending on how each platform showcases podcasts.
Whether you're watching live, catching a replay, or listening on the go, there's always a way to join the conversation and stay connected to the local creative pulse.
